Genie Soft are gaining a solid reputation for its Overture series. Part of a range that starts at US$49 for its ScoreWriter 2 up to US$499 for Overture Orchestra, this program specialises in orchestration scoring.

Overture 3 is a great choice if you are looking for powerful, but easy to use notation software. Overture's user interface has been designed specifically to be as easy to learn, and fast to use as possible. Most entry work, even sophisticated scoring techniques, can be done directly on the page with a minimum of menu selection and no complex dialog boxes.
The extensive features of Overture are great, but some people don't really need all of its advanced features. This is where Score Writer 2 comes in. Score Writer features the same notation engine and user interface as Overture 3, but has a slimmed down feature set and eliminates some tools used for large ensembles or specific modern types of music.
